PROUDLY PRESENTS THE FOLLOWING AWARD
ORIGINAL ARTIST
Any Soft Sculpture
TO
CaroleJean Smith
FOR
Liam, the Professor
The
theme this year for the Antelope Valley Doll Show was "Leprechans"
and CaroleJean Smith from Sequin, Texas was the Grand Prize winner with
her wonderful entry Liam, the Professor of Cures, Connor the Woodland Gnome
and Tiger Lily the Fairy. This original design was inspired by a Doctor
of Irish descent. His ability to make a patient "laugh" was the
best medicine he could prescribe. This was the spirit that she tried to
capture in Liam.
The judges awarded CaroleJean with a Blue Ribbon in her Division/Class, a Best Of Class and the Grand Theme Award the shows highest honor.
In 1988 she made her first dolls, Babushka and St. Nicholas and then introduced her line of Bubba's Dolls of Selma, Texas. She has sinced moved to Sequin, Texas and enjoys living life on the Guadalupe River with her husband of forty years.
Postcard "Greetings from New Braunfels, Texas" is a series that she will have available this year. Through the different doll characters, she will be relating the many historical, social and cultural aspects of this Hill Country community.
CaroleJean is totally amazed at the work that has been created and nothing gives her more satisfaction than the connection a doll can make when it speaks to that special person, "I've been made especially for you."
